Last week I explained
the college we did in art appreciation and last class we sent our colleges
around the class for people to guess what the pictures represented. I must
admit, I was excited to see what people thought about my college. I hoped they
would guess correctly on what my pictures represented. Unfortunately, I was disappointed
in my results. The whole point of this project was to test people’s visual
literacy but based on my results the 3 people who had my college visual
literacy isn’t that great. They looked at my art and saw what was there but not
what each picture represented. For instance, I put a picture of a dog on the college.
Instead of reading what the dog was doing (it was lying down, which was representing
laziness) they just said I liked dogs. Maybe the people who got mine didn’t take
the examination of my art seriously. I
got a good great so, oh well I guess. Maybe I’ll post the college next week to
see if you can guess!

Me with no words
Were supposed to blog about what we talk
about in class, so I will…just not Mr. Sweeney’s class. Haha, well at least not
in this blog. Anyway, I take art appreciation with Ms. Delano which I thought I
wouldn’t enjoy (Does art appreciation sound interesting to you?) but overall it’s
a pretty cool class. She assigned us to make a self-portrait without using a
picture of ourselves or words. Basically were making a collage with pictures to
describe ourselves. First, I thought this was going to be difficult but when I started
looking up pictures it became fun to describe myself without words. Of course it’s
a little challenging but if it were really easy, I don’t think that would be
fun. I got stuck a few times because I ran out of words but I just asked s few
people who knew me well to help me get back on track. The collage is due tomorrow
and I’m excited to see what people think of it. Maybe for my blog for next week
I’ll explain what I did. J

Writers block I guess
Today I planned on
writing my paper to turn it in next week. It’s been an hour and here I am eating
waffles as I think “this is going to be harder than I thought.” My topic is whether
abortions should be legalized or not in America, which is a very heated topic.
I’m not sure why I’m stuck but a possibility is that these waffles and 106
& Park are distracting. On top of that
although abortions are serious business, it’s not a topic I personally jump out
my seat for but I picked it because it was one of the most heated topics we
came up with in class. Maybe it would have been a better idea for me to
brainstorm more to pick a better topic to make my paper easier but I already
started writing and don’t want to start over with such little time. Hahaha. Although
I rather have a different topic, I enjoy writing and this paper, like every
paper I write, will be a good one.

No idea which to pick
Wednesday in class we filled the board with Pop Culture
topics to write for our first paper. Out of over 50 topics I have narrowed it
down to 3. The first one I was considering was about the show “Bad Girls Club”.
If your unfamiliar with the show is about pretty woman between the ages of maybe
21-25 who consider them self bad girls or bad b***hes. I was going to write
about the pros and cons of this show. But unfortunately I can’t figure out how
to turn this into an argumentative and not bias. The second topic I was
considering was the show “Beyond Scared Straight”. This show is about out of
control teens taking a tour of a jail to get them to realize that they need to
change. I was thinking about how they should have that program associated with schools
everywhere and how it may not be a good idea. Although this is a good topic I’m
not sure if that’s argumentative enough or what kind of research I would have
other than statistics about out of control teens or maybe examples from the
actual show. My third topic was abortion but that’s a common topic so I don’t want
to write about it. Hahaha. The rough draft is due Monday so I need to decide quickly.
